We just wanted to take a minute today to wish each of you a joyous and blessed Christmas filled with peace & special times with those you love... It's been a whirlwind of a year, and we greatly appreciate getting to share a little bit of it with you. Read on below for some of our favorite KC Media Christmas stories. And Merry Christmas!

Below is something from the BroadcastKC archives... I can't recall the whole story exactly, but this comes from December 1994, after a mother somewhere out east was charged with killing her two sons. Then Young Country 104 morning host Randy Miller and his then-six-year-old daughter Charlsey put together this song called "The Christmas List" and it aired on KBEQ quite a few times that holiday season. I just happened to find my cassette of it this week, so here it is to tug at your heart strings too...

Finally, we'll end on a lighter note with a (hilarious) play on the (excellent) Saturday Night Live "I'm On A Boat" music video... And yeah, this is KC Media-related, because The Mikey Needleman band does in fact include Fox 4's Bill Hurrelbrink! Enjoy it! Merry Christmas!
Hey, we're back! Sorry for that little speed bump there... Had some things come up and for over a week I never even realized no one was seeing posts here. It took some time to pinpoint (or maybe just blame) Internet Explorer 8 for the issues. After testing some other browsers, and finally downgrading back to IE7, I can type content on the back end, hit post, AND see it appear on the site. Sweetness!
As we get back to business you'll see no less than a half dozen posts appear throughout the day. In the meantime though, here's a short and sweet Weekly Radio Recap of last week in KC radio. Don't blink, or you'll miss it!
KC STATIONS ADD MONEY MINUTE -- Two AM stations serving the Kansas City area, KCWJ and KCXL, have both added the syndicated Watchdog Money Minute, hosted by Chris Markowski. For more information on the program, CLICK HERE.
NOT NEWS, BUT INTERESTING -- With voicetracking, you just never know where a familiar voice will pop up... Perfect example? This past week we noticed for the first time that long-time KUDL personality Taylor Scott also holds down nights on Variety Hits Star 95 in Princeton, WV. Again, no idea how long that arrangement's been in place, but we found it interesting...
Have a most excellent week, and a Merry Christmas!
This is a really exciting post to share with you... Today we're proud to announce that BroadcastKC.com has acquired a significant portion of the reel-to-reel audio collection of late Kansas City radio personality Dan Oberholtz (better known as Dan Diamond). Diamond, who passed away in 2006 after a bout with lung cancer, was a longtime radio talent who spent most of his career in the Kansas City area, beginning with KOKO in Warrensburg, then WHB in the late 1960s.
After a brief stop in Wisconsin and few years in Denver at KTLK and KOA, Diamond returned to Kansas City, where his stops included WDAF-AM 61 Country, KKFI-FM, and a return to WHB, where his popular "Wax Museum" program took to the airwaves after the station had been sold to Mike Carter and launched a country format.
Included in the collection are reels featuring airchecks of Milt Dickey, Dan Donovan, and Wendall Anschutz, as well as a number of unmarked reels (which I’m hoping will be more KC radio airchecks). Other reels include commercial spots, Bob Hope and Bob Lemon (ex-Royals manager) reels, a reel marked "KFKF," one from KCKN Recording Studio marked "David Bryan" and a reel marked "goofs." One reel, as you’ll see in photos from the unboxing, even includes a handwritten note on Dan’s 61 Country letterhead with tips for the personality featured on it.
We hope to begin sharing audio from the Dan Diamond collection sometime in 2010, after we have access to a reel-to-reel player and are able to digitize the complete collection, so keep watching for further updates.
