Here at BroadcastKC, there's nothing we enjoy more than helping to showcase great Kansas City talent - be it on the web, or promoting the locals in national contests. You may recall last summer we asked you to help send a KCTV personality to New York as Regis Philbin's co-host for a day on LIVE! with Regis & Kelly. This year, it's time to get behind a new effort for the program (seen locally on KCTV5), as LIVE! has announced they're seeking local radio talent for their "Women of Radio Co-Host for a Day" contest.
After hearing of the contest, we wondered aloud on Facebook & Twitter who would like to co-host with Regis for a day, so we could put together a campaign on their behalf. Luckily we heard almost immediately from a PERFECT candidate who had mentioned the contest on-air and online -- Star 102's Christy Campo!
Christy is a Kansas City native who's been on the air locally since 2003, when she won KZPL's "Last DJ on The Planet" contest, shortly after obtaining a Broadcasting degree at Northwest Missouri State University. After leaving 97.3 The Planet, she was heard as a traffic reporter on numerous local stations, until joining the Star 102 morning show in June of 2007. Since the spring, Christy (who also doubles as KCKC's Promotions Director) has been heard hosting middays on Star 102 from 11AM to 4PM each weekday.
We hope you'll join us in nominating Christy to represent Kansas City as a guest host on LIVE! in mid-August. Just follow the simple instructions below, and don't forget that you can vote daily now through July 16th (and hey, you can enter to win $500 worth of home appliances with each entry, too!)
