KCXL Upgrade Nearing Completion 6 Months, 4 Weeks ago
** This thread discusses the Content article: KCXL Upgrade Nearing Completion **

It's almost time. That's the word this weekend from KCXL 1140AM, where the station is on track to test out their new transmitter, perhaps as early as today, according to the YouTube video below. The video, posted yesterday by KCXL's David Brewer, shows station owner Pete Schartel at work on the new equipment.

KCXL is the next AM station we're getting a completed station history compiled for, and I've gotta tell you, it's interesting stuff. Do you remember which longtime KC personality hosted two different oldies shows there in the 1990s? (That would be Dan Donovan, whose second show was called "Dan and," a play on the fact that he was long known for his on-air partnership with Pam Whiting). Did you know that only a month before his death in 1995, KCXL picked up Wolfman Jack's syndicated program? We've got the audio to prove it, courtesy of Brewer and KCXL. (Just listen to the Wolfman's slam on Oldies 95...)

Check out the audio below, plus you can find more on KCXL from the station's YouTube channel by CLICKING HERE.
