It's our first Weekly Radio Recap of the new year, and already we've got a new station to report - plus other commencements, conclusions, and a Columbia format flip. Read on... RALEY LAUNCHES WEB ROCKER -- Former KYYS/KCFX personality Randy Raley has unveiled a new classic rock station on the web at www.PlanetRadio.us. The station, based in the St. Louis suburb of Kirkwood, features "those 300 songs you love from your favorite classic rock station...plus 2,000 more," all under the banner of "World Class Rock." Current specialty programs include: Acoustic Sunday (7AM to 9AM Sundays), and "Your Turn" (an hour of music submitted by a listener) at 6PM Sundays. Check out the station by CLICKING HERE. MARLAR SHOW TO CONCLUDE -- BroadcastKC has learned that The Darren Marlar Radio Show will come to a close on January 30. The syndicated program, featuring former KCNW/KCWJ/KFKF personality Darren Marlar, began last summer and has aired on approximately a dozen stations in the US and Canada. RICK MILLER GOES FULL CIRCLE -- Former Country 106.5 afternoon personality Rick Miller has officially gone full circle, returning to the afternoon shift at WKSJ/Mobile. Miller, who left that position to join WDAF in May of 2004, departed Kansas City when he and his "Work Release Program" co-host Sammye Phelps were let go in September of 2006. Z-MAN BACK OFF-AIR -- You may recall we recently noted former KC sports talker Mike "The Z-Man" Zarrick had returned to the airwaves in St. Louis at KSLG-AM. This week we find (via an article on the recent departure of Bob Fescoe from KFNS) that Zarrick has already vacated his brokered 1PM to 2PM shift at 1380AM. ZIMMER FLIPS IN COMO -- Looking eastward, central Missouri has a new FM sports talker, as Zimmer Radio Group has replaced KKCA 100.5's classic hits format with a simulcast of KTGR-AM. The station, which will pick up the KTGR-FM call letters, airs a full ESPN Radio weekday schedule, in addition to a local sports program on weekends. Have a great week! |
