Background:
In early 1989, approximately a year after financial problems caused KKJC to go dark, 1030AM re-emerged as part of an AM/FM duopoly under the ownership of Noble Broadcasting. The station returned to the airwaves with a simulcast of FM sister Q-104 and new KBEQ-AM call letters to match. However, the arrangement would be short lived, as Noble would replace the KBEQ calls and programming with an upstart satellite network called Z-Rock in July.
